Who is required to perform Hajj?

Hajj is obligatory for every Muslim who meets the following criteria:

  • Adult: Must be past the age of puberty
  • Sane: Must be of sound mind
  • Free: Must be a free person (not enslaved)
  • Able-bodied: Physically capable of undertaking the journey
  • Financially capable: Has enough wealth to cover the journey and support dependents
